Common Questions
Do I need to treat my pet as well as the house?
Yes — on the same day if possible. We treat the premises; your vet-recommended product handles the fleas on the animal. Do one without the other and the infestation restarts within weeks.
How should I prepare for a flea treatment?
Vacuum carpets and furniture thoroughly (bin the vacuum bag outside), wash pet bedding in hot water, clear items off the floor, and mow the lawn if we're treating outside. Vacuuming actually helps — the vibration triggers pupae to hatch into the treatment.
I'm still seeing a few fleas a week after treatment — did it fail?
No — that's expected. Pupae are protected from any treatment until they hatch, so stragglers emerge for one to two weeks and die on the treated surfaces. Keep vacuuming daily and avoid mopping treated carpets edges for the period we advise.
Can fleas live in a house without pets?
Yes. Dormant pupae survive months without a host, and fleas will happily bite humans when they hatch. It's common in newly purchased or rented homes where the previous occupants had animals.
Are flea treatments safe for my pets?
Yes — we use registered products and give you clear re-entry times (typically once treated areas are dry). Fish tanks get covered, and we'll flag anything specific for birds, reptiles or pocket pets.
